NUMEN/FOR USE x PALAIS DE TOKYO

October 30, 2014

NUMEN1NUMEN11NUMEN3 NUMEN5

I was completely awe struck when I first saw this installation and after a little research found out that it was created by the art collective Numen/For Use. This particular installation “Tape” was created with support by the fashion brand COS, and is one of many installations that collectively make up the group exhibition titled “Inside”, which finds it’s home in Parisian Palais de Tokyo until January 2015. “The curatorial concept delves into the murky territory of both physical and psychological interiority thematising immersion, introspection and probing of the depths of self. The main idea was to transform the whole building into a convulsive mind/body organism whose slippery inner limits a motivated explorer has yet to trace and confront.”

BLURRED LINES

BLURREDLINE

I survived my camping weekend. There were most definitely some unplanned moments, but the weekend was filled with good friends, beer, and a very small campfire. It was about escaping for a while, and that’s just what we did.

SUN XIN x CONCRETE PLANTER x ANNA MIRROR

October 23, 2014

ANNAMIRRORCONCRETE

Sun Xin, Hangzhou based designer, created a range of concrete planters to compliment her ANNA mirror collection. While I have admired concrete planters and the like, these things are something else.  I am heading out for a three day camping trip tomorrow morning, so I hope the rest of you have a beautiful weekend.

TUESDAY INSPIRE

TUESDAYINSPIRE

MAN, OH, MAN. Life has been crazy. In the not so crazy quiet moments I have been watching American Horror Story. Anyone else into that show? Did you watch the new season? I just finished Murder House and am on Asylum now, so I don’t have much to compare the newest season to. But I’m into it. I also figured I would throw a little Tuesday inspiration board out there for you on this fine evening. I’ve been enjoying some of these “faceless” photos, which causes the viewer to steal a second glance and determine what exactly it is about the photo that draws you to it. We so commonly navigate in on a photo because of the face or model, but these force you to do so differently.

One day I will take photos with not my iPhone, but for now this is all you suckas get. This post is about one week too late, but that’s okay. I have an all new permanent collection plus a whole slew of new pieces in the shop with more to come! I hosted a giveaway a few days ago over on instagram, and it was so much fun I just might do it again! Thank you again for all of the support and wonderful feedback on my work! I am enjoying the process of fine-tuning my art as I find myself evolving in the craft, learning more about fibers, and adding new raw materials into the pieces.

WE ARE ISLANDERS

WEARE

I woke up at noon today thinking it was nine in the morning and promptly ran downstairs just to discover that the only coffee we have in the entire house is decaf. So, I am currently drinking decaf coffee attempting to get some work done around here. However, I was briefly distracted by these beautiful creations from Irish Art-Fashion House, We Are Islanders. These photos may be from 2013, but they do not fail to demonstrate how extremely talented the brand is. They create trans-seasonal collections using only sustainable materials, refusing to allow for any compromise on style or quality. The designers showcased this video, demonstrating how they used tidal water on the Dublin coastline to dye their garments. I am continuously amazed and excited to come across these sorts of designers who are challenging the norm, working with sustainable materials, and creating such beautiful pieces.
