I realized recently that when in a museum I gravitate more easily towards the paintings, usually lending only a brief moment in front of a sculpture. The funny thing is that I love photos of sculptures…why I bypass them in museums and hoard photos of them at home is beyond me. After studying them more closely I became enamored by the beauty, history, and skill that goes into creating these pieces of art. The movement, detail, and fluidity (especially in busts and statues) is incredible. I’m calling myself out on my ignorance and am making a public promise to spend more time in front of them.
